Town of Jackson Seeks Public Art Proposals for Gregory Lane
Town of Jackson Seeks Public Art Proposals for Gregory Lane
Jackson, Wyoming | January 16, 2026 – Jackson Hole Public Art and the Town of Jackson are pleased to announce a Call for Public Art Proposals as part of the Gregory Lane Complete Street Project, a long-anticipated community investment that will improve safety, connectivity, infrastructure, and neighborhood character.
Updating Gregory Lane into a Complete Street was identified as a community need decades ago. Project planning and technical studies began in 2021. The Town Council reviewed conceptual street designs in August 2023 and provided direction on preferred alternatives in May 2024. The complete street project includes coordination and easements with adjacent landowners to ensure the design reflects community priorities and long-term planning goals.
As part of the Complete Street improvements, the Town is seeking artists to propose site-specific public artworks that enhance pedestrian safety, reinforce neighborhood identity, and support the overall functionality and add continuity to the corridor.
Given the constrained nature of Gregory Lane, it is strongly suggested that artists consider hanging the artwork from the lamp posts on the street.
A Spanish version of the RFQ is available on the jhpublicart.org website.
Selected artworks should help:
Increase pedestrian safety
Reduce traffic
Add character and identity to the neighborhood
Create playful points of interest for children walking to school
Strengthen visual connectivity along the corridor
Who Should Apply
Preference may be given to artists who reside in Jackson, and who are familiar with the corridor. Artists within commuting distance to Jackson are encouraged to apply, this includes Victor, Driggs, Alpine, Pinedale and the Wind River Reservation. Public art experience is not necessary.
Media/Style/Size
The artwork must have a narrow footprint and be made of durable media that requires little to no maintenance aside from annual cleaning. Artwork can withstand unsupervised attention, large truck traffic, and snow removal. The artwork should be properly scaled to the various heights of buildings in the corridor and must not hinder the line of sight for drivers.
Please join us for an informational session from 5-9 PM on January 28th at the Center for the Arts Commons. 240 S Glenwood St. Translation services will be available.
