Jackson Hole Public Art Invites Artists to Reimagine the Mailbox as Public Sculpture
JACKSON HOLE, WY | January 28, 2026— Jackson Hole Public Art (JHPA) is pleased to announce a call for artists to submit proposals for artist-designed sculptural mailboxes to be installed throughout the valley as part of To Jackson Hole, With Love, a valley-wide participatory public art project curated by Bronwyn Minton.
This project invites artists to reinterpret the mailbox as a sculptural vessel of care, communication, and place. Designs may be abstract, representational, playful, poetic, or symbolic, while remaining clearly functional and accessible. By transforming a familiar object into public art, To Jackson Hole, With Love creates an opportunity for residents and visitors to slow down, reflect, and share their voices through handwritten postcards.
Selected mailboxes will serve as both public sculptures and interactive community hubs. Each mailbox will hold blank postcards for public use and securely receive completed messages, gathering the collective voice of Jackson Hole through an engaging and tactile art experience.
JHPA is also seeking host sites for the mailboxes and sponsors for this project. Please reach out to somes, somes@jhpublicart.org if you are interested.
Scope of Work
Selected artists will design and fabricate a functional sculptural mailbox that:
Serves as a durable, outdoor public artwork
Safely stores blank postcards for public use
Receives completed postcards through a secure mail slot
Clearly communicates simple participation instructions
Is accessible, intuitive, and welcoming to all ages
Mailboxes will be installed in high-visibility public locations.
