Request for Artist Designed Mailbox Proposals
Jackson Hole Public Art invites artists to submit proposals for artist-designed sculptural mailboxes to be installed throughout Jackson Hole as part of To Jackson Hole, With Love, a valley-wide participatory public art project curated by Bronwyn Minton. These mailboxes will function as both public sculptures and points of engagement.
JHPA is also seeking host sites for the mailboxes and sponsors for this project. Please reach out to somes, somes@jhpublicart.org if you are interested.
Eligibility and Guidelines
Media/Style/Size
All proposals must include:
Two integrated functions
A compartment or holder for blank postcards
A secure internal receptacle for deposited postcards
Concise, legible instructions incorporated into the design (not applied as temporary signage), such as:
Take a postcard
Write what you love about Jackson Hole
Drop it here
Weather-resistant materials suitable for year-round outdoor installation
Safety and accessibility considerations, including smooth edges and readable text
Thoughtful integration of function, instruction, and sculptural form
Location Description
Mailboxes will be installed in high-visibility public locations such as the Town Square, parks, trailheads, bike paths, and cultural venues.
Eligibility: Open to local and regional artists. Artists at all career stages are welcome to apply.
