Press Release: Free, Family-Friendly Event to Celebrate Electric Dandelions at Center for the Arts

JACKSON, WYOMING: On Friday, January 12th, join Jackson Hole Public Art and the Center for the Arts at the Center Park for a Free Sparkler Party to celebrate five giant glowing dandelions in the sky! The family-friendly festivities run from  5 to 7 pm and will include sparklers, sparkling drinks, sparkly outfits, and of course, sparkling art.

Co-presented by Public Art and the Center, the Electric Dandelions rise 25 feet above the landscape. Created by Liquid PXL, a Los Angeles art collective, the sculpture uses LED lights to cascade twinkling colors high above the ground.By day, these towering structures, crafted from sturdy steel, translucent polycarbonate, and vibrant LEDs, captivate with their representation of a dandelion in full bloom. As the sun sets, they transform into a breathtaking spectacle. This mesmerizing installation will be on full display during the event for the community to gather and play beneath while enjoying a live DJ broadcast from KHOL.

This installation is part of Public Art’s GlowNights, which is in its sixth year and has become an anticipated part of Teton County winter art and events. A second installation for the 2023-2024 season is on display in the Teton Village Commons at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Cloud Lights showcases illuminated cloud shapes that pull the sky closer to the earth. Created by designers and fabricators Pneuhaus, these artful inflatables cast warm colors that glow and reflect in snow, as they hang above the snow castle in the Village Commons.

“We are delighted to bring lighted sculptures to the darkest winter months. It’s exciting to install fabricated sculptures created by art collectives that work specifically with art and light in the environment. We owe thanks to lodging tax funding from Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism for making this scale of installation possible.” says Carrie Geraci, Executive Director of Jackson Hole Public Art.

Jackson Hole Public Art brings art to public spaces with the support of partners. For GlowNights, partners include Teton Village Association, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Center for the Arts, Wyoming Arts Council and Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism.
