JH Public Art Selects Local Artists for WildWalls 2023

Jackson, WY: Jackson’s downtown streets will welcome 14 temporary murals for the annual WildWalls event. During WildWalls, the art and science communities join forces to raise awareness about our region’s ecological stories. Blank alley walls are transformed into an open-air gallery from June through September, in a highly visual, interactive, and educational event without the confines of a traditional venue, making it accessible to thousands of people daily.

This year's conservation group sponsors are The Nature Conservancy, Grand Teton National Park Foundation, Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Friends of the Bridger-Teton, Teton County Weed & Pest and PlayCleanGo, and Wyoming Untrapped. The mural images are inspired by conservation messages related to the important role pollinators play in maintaining a healthy ecosystem.

The wheatpaste mural artists are: Bailey Collins, Leann Dzemske, Nicole Gaitan, Patricia Griffin, Ed Lavino, Molly Martin, Miranda Raposa, Miga Rossetti, Lyndsay Rowan, Helen Seay, Alyssa Shaw, Kathryn Turner, Anika Youcha, and students from Jackson Hole High School.

WildWalls 2023 will again combine some murals with augmented reality (AR) features to promote a greater understanding and awareness of the region’s ecosystem through contemporary scientific research. WildWalls AR features will be hosted on the Hoverlay app, available for free on all smartphones. JH Public Art is working with the selected artists and collaborating organizations to generate educational content that brings murals alive. This year’s AR animations will be created by Kika Macfarlane and Tala Schlossberg of Two Toes Creative.

WildWalls 2023 is sponsored by: The Nature Conservancy, Grand Teton National Park Foundation, Greater Yellowstone Coalition, Teton County Weed & Pest and PlayCleanGo, Friends of the Bridger-Teton, Wyoming Untrapped, Dave Hansen Whitewater, Jackson Hole Book Trader, 4JH, Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, Wyoming Arts Council, Snake River Brewing, Pinky G’s, ArtShop, The Charles Engelhard Foundation, William E. Weiss Foundation, Inc., Stinky Prints

A special thanks to our 5-year sponsor Stinky Prints who customizes and prints all the mural images!
