Jackson Hole Public Art makes the mundane magical: the utility boxes peppering downtown became platforms for local creativity in celebration of the Town of Jackson’s Centennial. About 60 Jackson artists submitted images for consideration by the Town-appointed Public Art Task Force, an impressive applicant pool that testified to the great diversity of work being made in the Tetons. From this pool, the Task Force chose artwork by 11 local artists to adorn 14 boxes. Bozeman, MT-based Clean Slate Group printed the images on durable 3M wraps. Participating artists received a stipend for their submissions, and their work is now included in our online catalogue of the municipal collection of public art. The Town Utility Box Project epitomizes our efforts to support local artists and celebrate our distinct creative heritage.
